Trash Collection

THE FOLLOWING ARE A FEW REMINDERS ABOUT TRASH AND RECYCLABLE COLLECTION: Trash and recyclables will be picked up each Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a National Holiday). Garbage bags can be placed by the roadside, driveway, alley or other accessible area no earlier than 5 p.m. the day preceding collection day and no later than 7 a.m. the day of collection. All garbage bags will be picked up that are securely closed and neither broken nor weigh more than thirty (30) pounds when filled. Black bags, cardboard boxes or loose material will not be picked up. Clear recycle bags, either large or small must be used for recycling material. Each recycling bag must contain just one type of material: newspapers, glass, plastic etc. Both yellow garbage bags and recycle bags (large & small) can be purchased at the following businesses. Randville Bar, Mini Mart Gas Station in Sagola, Sonny’s Market & Midtown Bait and Tackle in Channing and Silver Lake Resort north of Channing. Yellow garbage bags are $2.00 per bag, large recycle are $1.00 per bag, small recycle are $0.50 per bag. LARGE ITEMS: Any large items put out for collection must be accompanied by a yellow township garbage bag. When disposing of carpeting it must be rolled up and tied and no longer than 6 feet. The following are exceptions to what a large items can be picked up: Item by virtue of their size or weight are not reasonable easily moved or transported by commonly available means. Items which are or contain material not eligible for disposal at the Facility. Examples, but not limited to the following: construction material, demolition debris, including particularly masonry. Tires, freezers, refrigerators, air conditioners, liquids and dead and live animals. Mattress and box springs are no longer accepted at the facility. Due to a limited number of mattress and box springs per day they will not be collected. If you have more than one large item to dispose of, please place only one or two items out each week. We do not pick up Hazardous Materials: Latex paint, but only if the paint if solid (has dried up). Oil based paint, old household cleaners, glue, calking, lighter fluids, antifreeze, gas mercury light bulbs and thermometers, etc are considered hazardous material and we do not pick them up. You can bring them to GAD (Great American Disposal) in Quinnesec the second Tuesday of every month from 9 to 10 AM Thank You for your cooperation and assistance. If there is an unforeseen circumstance that changes the schedule, we will post it on the Sagola Township website and on the sign next to the Post Office in Channing.
